Lake and Mountain Topography
cults3d
I created a 3D model of a lake and mountain using Blender, leveraging a heightmap to push vertices into place. This project turned out to be an excellent exercise for my new texture mapping skills and looks fantastic. I printed mine at .3mm thickness, and I'm eager to see it in different colors, on a larger scale or with thinner walls. I made this several years ago but lost the original heightmap; if I find it, I'll share it online as well. The resulting STL file became quite large, so if anyone knows how to compress it without losing any details, I'm game. My Blender file includes some objects I used in a water simulation that you're welcome to play around with.
