Ladybug Box
cults3d
This is a snap-fit box in form of a Ladybug. I use for my designs the software Z-Brush and the model is made from scratch. The model is split up in different parts so it's possible to print them with different filament colors. All the parts of the model need to be glued together. The body and the base of the box close with a snap and they really hold firm together. To unsnap it again you need to rotate the lid for about 5° degree and with the help of the back tail it opens again. The process is shown in the GIF. Took me a few prototype iterations for it to work this way. The different parts of the model are provided as *.obj files. The shell needs a support structure to print properly. The box cover should print without support but for a cleaner inner surface you need at least a support column in the middle of the dome. Also if your filament doesn't bridge very good i also suggest a small support in the mouth opening . The other parts of the model should print pretty fine without support .
