Lady of Brussels
thingiverse
This remarkable statue, often referred to as the Lady of Brussels, represents one of the earliest examples of private stone sculpture in Egypt. Dating back around 2650 BC, this protodynastic piece from the 2nd dynasty showcases a unique archaic treatment of forms, most notably the absence of a neck. The lady's heavy, intricately woven wig and long, low-cut dress accentuate her body's contours. Although its origin is unknown, it is likely that this funerary statue came from a necropolis in Saqqara, possibly even the capital itself. What makes this statue stand out is the presentation of an elite woman alone, rather than alongside her husband.
