Lady Justice

Lady Justice

myminifactory

Since the 15th century, Lady Justice has frequently been portrayed wearing a blindfold. The blindfold signifies objectivity, indicating that justice should be meted out objectively, unaffected by fear or favor, regardless of money, wealth, fame, power, or identity; symbolizing impartiality and blind justice. This sculpture omits the blindfold entirely, as Lady Justice was originally not depicted with one. Her "maidenly form" is designed to guarantee her impartiality, making the blindfold unnecessary. In her right hand, Lady Justice holds a sword that points downward, signifying punishment in justice.
