Need a ladder that fits your unique dimensions? Try LadderMaker, an OpenSCAD script that lets you create custom ladder-like structures with ease. Simply set your height, width, rung count, and more, then render and print. This script is versatile, too - use it for projects beyond ladders, like prop railings or fan screens. My son required a custom ladder for his firetruck model, so I crafted this simple script as my first major project in OpenSCAD. Feedback and suggestions on the scripting are welcome. Included STL files serve as examples, but you'll need the OpenSCAD file to create your own designs. LadderMaker also integrates well with Thingiverse's Customizer tool, allowing you to create custom ladders online with precision specifications. Customizer Variable Notes: * $FN: Minimum Angle (number of fragments when rendering, likely doesn't require adjustment) * L Height: Ladder Height mm (end-to-end measurement) * L Width: Ladder Width mm (oc-to-oc measurement) * L Rungs: Number of Rungs * L Radius: Ladder Radius mm (remember, it's radius, not diameter!) This script lacks logic to prevent you from inputting unusual settings. However, if the rendering appears satisfactory, it should print correctly. Ladder Connectors: "LadderMaker_CylinderUnion_20x2_T.stl" enables joining ladders into larger shapes, similar to lincoln logs. This 'tight' version is designed for my printer; if you prefer a "looser" tolerance, let me know. I may develop different style connectors in the future. For printing, 10% infill with a raft should suffice. Rod Eye Socket: I'm also working on another mounting option for ladders and fan grills - a customizable rod end with an eye hole for secure attachment. You can customize dimensions and angle as needed. Visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2067128 to explore further. Print Settings: Rafts: No specific settings required Supports: None Notes: Use rafts and infill according to your preference. The sample print featured a raft and 10% infill; for added strength, consider increasing the infill percentage.
