Lack Rack - 2 piece

A modified and more refined version of my Lack Rack.

From the other model: After enclosing my printer with the lack enclosure, the frame-mounted tool holder became useless. I tried sticking a holder onto the side of the lack only to have it fall off in the middle of the night. I have since been struggling to find a tool rack that didn't look like it was tacked on as an afterthought.

Enter the Lack Rack. This wholly original design was painstakingly created from scratch by an amateur on sigh TinkerCad. This print replaces the front right leg of the Ikea Lack end table with a 3d printed part that integrates an organizer for all your regularly used tools:

SD card x3

hex keys

sissors/pliers

screw drivers x2

tweezers

acupuncture needles

calipers

6 drawers for screws, nuts, magnets, or other hardware

LED strip light remote control holder

The design allows the larger tools to pass through the leg into the enclosure substantially reducing the real estate needed for this rack. The impossible dovetails which join the sections make a lot of friction keeping the unit together. A few dabs of superglue will lock the connection together permanently but do not appear to be necessary.

Mount using the same screws as called for in the instructions for the lack enclosure, or insert M3 square nuts and connect with 10mm screw and washer.

The model has cavities for installing 2x3x20mm magnets to hold the drawers in place. This may be overkill, but I have an unconfirmed concern that the drawers may shift over time from the vibrations generated by the machine and one morning I'm going to discover trays of 3mm nuts and bolts all over my floor.

The magnets I used can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PGH3XVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Print instructions

This is designed to fit the print bed on the i3mk3.

Printed in PLA. 3mf comes pre-programmed with pauses to install the magnets. Be very careful about orientation to ensure the drawer is pulled into the slot rather than repelled.

Print also has a scheduled material change to highlight the logo and name on the side. This can be removed, obviously, if you don't have the MMU and shouldn't cause any ill effects.
