This simple hinge converts the two-sided door of the LACK enclosure into a one-sided folding door. There are other solutions around (such as https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/23970-prusa-lack-enclosure-sliding-doors or https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/38833-prusa-lack-v2-sliding-doors or https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3485510) but I was looking for something as simple as possible.

I liked @ohrenstoepsel's straightforward hinge but I couldn't fold it back completely, even with the updated screw design he published (it wasn't the screw that was limiting the folding range but the magnet pockets).

I ended up re-implementing it in Fusion 360 but designate it a remix to give @ohrenstoepsel credit for the inspiration. I also used @ccc888's door knob design as a starting point as these are the ones I'm using on all my enclosures.

I use it with a V2 enclosure but I don't see why it wouldn't work with V1 as well.

I added screws a la @ohrenstoepsel's design to the hinge but frankly, I don't trust them and glued the hinges in place with Gorilla Super Glue. The hinge has pockets for 20 x 10 x 2 mm magnets. I used some smaller ones (I think 20 x 5 x 2) and I don't think they're really necessary.

For the doorstop, I used #6 x ½'' wood screws to attach one each to the top and bottom of the enclosure.

In the spirit of simplicity, I didn't change the “free” side of the folding door. I just removed the M3×30 screw that holds Prusa_MMU_enclosure_corner_bottom_front_left and Prusa_MMU_enclosure_hinge_bottom_left together (you can of course also select the right side as the “free” side). When I close the door, I just slide the original enclosure hinge into the pocket of the corner piece.

I printed the hinge and screws with 0.1mm layer height, 3 perimeters, 20% infill, no supports. The doorstop was printed with 0.2 mm variable layer height, 3 perimeters, 10% infill, no supports.

If you like what I'm doing…

…consider buying me a coffee.
