LACK Enclosure Filament Feed Tube
thingiverse
Abstract: A simple, easy-to-install filament feed hole for the IKEA LACK table, often used in printer enclosure construction. Brief: I designed a filament feed hole that's small, tidy, and straightforward to install, eliminating worries about drilling at an incorrect angle. Parts: * 1x Tube * 1x Installation shim * 1x Bottom cap * 1x Top cap Tools Required: * Drill * 10mm drill bit * 5.5mm (or 5mm) drill bit * Pencil * 30cm rule or measuring tape Instructions: 1. Use the pencil and rule to draw two arcs on the table surface, intersecting in the centre [picture1]. Start by placing the 0cm mark at the front left corner of the table. 2. Drill a 10mm hole through the upper surface using the 10mm drill bit [picture2]. Apply gentle pressure as the table surface is thin. 3. Place the shim over the tube, ensuring it's aligned with the chamfer on one side. Push the tube through the drilled hole until the shim touches the table surface flatly [picture 3]. 4. Use the 5.5mm or 5mm drill bit to carefully push down through the installed tube until it contacts the bottom table surface. Ensure the shim is still flush with the top surface before drilling. 5. Remove the tube and shim, then use the 10mm drill bit to drill from underneath the table upwards, guided by the mark left from the smaller drill bit [picture5]. 6. Clean up the holes and install the tube without the shim [picture 6]. 7. Push fit the bottom cap onto the tube after ensuring it's flush with the top surface [picture 7]. 8. Remove supports from the top cap, then push fit it onto the top of the tube [picture 9]. 9. Insert filament and ensure it slides freely through the tube [picture 8].
