Label panel for 16-port USB hub
thingiverse
I got fed up with hunting about to locate the correct power button on my hub, so I made this. The clips attach to USB leads where they come up vertically from the hub. The front-facing panel has enough room for short Dymo Letratag labels. This remixed design has been tested on a "Powered USB Hub RSHTECH 16 Port 100W USB 3.0 Data Hub Aluminum USB Port Expander with Individual On/Off Switches and 12V/8.3A Power Adapter (RSH-A16)" (Amazon's words, not mine!) It might be ok for other hubs if the port spacing is close to 13.175mm (centre to centre). **************** WARNING: USB cables much over 4.1mm diameter are hard to clip in. I broke one clip trying. If I redo this, I’ll only actually put a clip at each end. That way, the fatter leads won’t be a bother, and my desired outcome will still be satisfied. **************** The design isn’t fancy, but it does the trick. I’d like to enlarge upon it with something that actually clips onto the hub itself. But it would be a big project for a dabbler like me, as anything short of a full-on base for the entire hub would require some CAD gymnastics to leave the port-power buttons accessible.
