I redesigned the front panel for the Lab ATX Power Supply Skeleton Case by adding a CC/CV programmable power supply module that I purchased from eBay, capable of delivering 2-20 volts at 2 amps. Rather than utilizing the guts of the original ATX supply, I opted to install an open-frame power supply from eBay, which provides both 12-volt and 5-volt outputs. To accommodate the maximum input requirement of the power supply module, a small boost converter was used to elevate the 12-volt output to 23 volts, achieving excellent results. It's worth noting that I could have employed a 24-volt supply; however, those compact enough to bring the voltage down to the desired 23 volts for the module were substantially more expensive. I integrated a salvaged 5-volt USB jack and positioned a fuse holder in the rear of the ATX housing, which I had gutted to house my new power supply. To maintain functionality, I retained the fan and IEC power inlet, as well as the input filtering on the back of the inlet, which now feeds the internalized power supply that I mounted inside. The rationale behind this decision was that I lacked a reliable working ATX supply; consequently, I have now achieved more stable output voltage, eliminating the need for load on the 5-volt rail, which would otherwise generate excessive heat and so forth.
