sketchfab
The remnants of intricately carved Hiberno-Romanesque architectural elements are strewn throughout the graveyard, bearing witness to fabric from the medieval church that once stood tall. One such stone, a large sandstone capital, lies near the southern boundary wall (LA015-023002-), its origins dating back to the 12th century doorway of the ancient edifice. During a recent site visit, the scalloped capital was discovered on the southeastern angle of the eastern gable of the levelled church in the graveyard's center. Architectural fragments were scattered around the footings of this abandoned building. This reinterpretation of the doorway is based on photogrammetry analysis of surviving remnants and remains open to varied interpretation.
