La Seine
myminifactory
Commissioned as part of the four groups designed for the park's "river", this majestic piece stands in tandem with the statue of the Marne at the top of the cascade. Installed in 1699, a plaster model was first put into place, with the marble version completed in 1706. Seized by the Parc de Marly in 1796, it wasn't until 1801 that this beautiful work found its new home in the park of Saint-Cloud, where it remained until 1872. Interestingly, the inscription "Le Rhône" etched onto its base is entirely fictional.
