The Porte Noire of Besançon stands in Vesontio, Gallia, a testament to the grandeur of ancient times. In approximately 175 AD, under the reign of Marcus Aurelius, this magnificent structure reached an impressive height of 16.56 meters. Photogrammetry techniques were employed from the ground up, despite equipment limitations, resulting in defects and deformations visible on the upper sections. The project aims to integrate existing traditional surveys, potentially producing a model that accurately represents missing components and volumes. This work remains ongoing, with much to be achieved. To delve deeper into the Porte Noire's history, decoration, and dating, one can refer to Walter's comprehensive study: "La Porte noire de Besançon" (1986), published in two volumes by Presses Univ. Franche-Comté as part of their Collection de l'Institut des Sciences et Techniques de l'Antiquité, numbered 321.
