L31A Bayonet
cults3d
The British L1A3 bayonet was one of three main patterns of bayonet used in conjunction with the 7.62mm L1A1 rifle (see FIR 10311). When this pattern of rifle was adopted for service, its original bayonet was replaced with a British designed weapon. This followed the convention of using a short, bowie-tipped knife blade, which had been established during the mid-1940s. The L1A3 was an improvement on the initial L1A1 design, as it featured a recessed catch-stud, which reduced the likelihood the catch being released by a chance blow.
