L'Amitié (Friendship) at The Louvre, Paris

This awe-inspiring marble sculpture of a woman was masterfully crafted by Cristoforo Solari in 1619, marking the final work he completed before his passing. The piece, titled "L'Amitié," or Friendship in translation, is now housed in the permanent collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris after being relocated from its original home at the Mattei Villa in Rome. The sculpture depicts a bare-breasted female figure with her left hand resting against her chest. Scholars have extensively studied her form, noting that her raised left hand can evoke either a tender moment of camaraderie or an act of surrender. Her downcast gaze is directed toward the viewer, who stands before her on a pedestal. Her fingers appear to be opening a wound where her heart would be, adding a poignant depth to the sculpture's emotional impact. This remarkable work is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative spearheaded by MyMiniFactory. Through this project, we are creating a vast digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe, accessible for free to the public. "Scan The World" is an open-source community effort, and we invite you to contribute your own unique items.
