L-39 Bombs and Pylon

This is the wing weapons pylon, dual bomb rack and bomb system. The bomb features a slot for seamless integration with the Freewing weapon mount male piece, enabling single mode operation. The rack has a corresponding slot to securely attach the male piece. I upgraded the existing wing pylon by modifying it to accommodate the Freewing female mounting piece after cutting off the top section that originally held the fuel tank. A slot was carefully cut into the remaining tank structure to allow for secure attachment with the Freewing male piece. The 3D printed pylon is positioned approximately 72mm inboard from the foam pylon, ensuring a snug fit. Installation begins by attaching the right-side pylon first, as it's nearest to the flap servo arm, and then matching the distance for the left one. To achieve a secure connection, an Exacto knife must be used to carefully cut into the foam where the two tabs from the pylon make contact with the wing surface. I utilized the rubber cement provided with the plane to attach the pylon to the wing. The rocket launcher STL is available on RCGroups in the L-39 forum for download. Unfortunately, I was unable to find sufficient reference images to scale the bomb and rack accurately. However, one photo did provide a useful basis for scaling. I must admit that my custom weapon pylon has surpassed my expectations, surpassing even the original foam installation that came with the model.
