Köpings S7C year 1928 metal lathe cross feed nut
thingiverse
Cross feed trapezoidal nut for Köpings S7C metal lathe from 1928 fabricated. Original part was nonexistent, necessitating measurement and design of a new one. Designed with TR22x5 thread and extruded the entire thread profile to 0.65mm as automatic creation from software for TR20x5 was not available (contrary to printing holes which are typically smaller than their drawings). The result is a good and snug fit, facilitated by the application of oil during installation. An M8 bolt attachment is situated atop it, with a 16.5mm diameter knob and 5mm height, ensuring a stiff fit to the cross feed plate. Testing has been conducted, with satisfactory results. However, actual usage has not been attempted, thus precluding judgment on durability and pressure handling capabilities. Fabrication was undertaken solely to restore functionality to my lathe, as the original part was missing.
