Kyosho Ultima ST GP RS-148 gearbox input gear

Human: Okay, so this is a Kyosho Ultima ST GP (Racing Sports version) gearbox input gear. Part nr. RS-148 (part 1/2, the second part is on a separate release, you can find it in my things). I've printed dozens of versions of this gear to tweak this design. This is the latest and final version. It has 0.4mm wider teeths than original. There simply isn't any space left to widen the teeths more with stock input gear due to its design. You might need to shorten the locking pin (that goes into the hole in the input axle) a little. This is because of the reinforcement procedures that I did to this gear. I suspect this widening process will give a great boost to the durability (with printing using our FDM style printers). The gearbox gears are all mod 0.8, so this gear is easy to print even with stock 0.4mm nozzle. I "drove in" my gearbox, spinning the input shaft with a cordless drill for a few minutes, then opening up the gearbox and cleaning it before applying new grease to it. Top tip for input gear: If you want the best gearbox input gear you can buy to replace your plastic one, ARRMA part nr. AR310762 is a direct swap. It's a steel gear with full width teeths that goes straight into the 5mm axle Kyosho uses. You only need to slightly shim its level to match the input axles gear locking pin level. Check my rc10talk build thread for what I mean by this shimming. As always, use good quality grease in the gearbox and make sure your slipper is adjusted properly.
