Kyosho Ultima Pro XL Rear Hub Carriers

Kyosho Ultima Pro XL Rear Hub Carriers

Rear hub carriers for the Kyosho Ultima Pro XL vintage buggy. These hub carriers stay pretty true to the original design. I have removed the outer flat feature - if desired I can add that back in. I have also removed the mold relief ridge in the bolt mounting area to improve overall strength. The holes have been set up to accept M3 hardware (although 2.6 hardware could probably be adapted with some minor model modifications). This is designed for use with the latest re-release drivetrain components. This may require a shim on the output to ensure there is not too much play if the original tapered 12 mm drive hubs are used. Tap the mounting holes with a M3 tap. Ream the hinge pin holes with a 3 mm drill bit (may/may not be required). UPDATE 01/26/22: V2 uploaded with corrections based on printing. The upper hinge pin spacing was slightly off - 1 mm further outboard and 0.5 mm too high, and the front face was approximately 2 mm further outboard than it should have been (some of the fun of reverse engineering parts). The bearing area was also increased very slightly to make it a little easier to press in bearings. This area may need to be tweaked in your models to account for your printers tolerances. I added some additional clearances to the hex area and added some rounds around the turnbuckle mounting area to improve strength. UPDATE 01/28/22: V3 uploaded with some additional tweaks to the geometry to allow for better compatibility with re-release parts and better compatibility with printing tolerances. The upper mounting link holes were spaced too far outwards in V1/V2 versions (~1 mm). The spacing between the bearings has been decreased to allow for use of the re-release axles (shim the original/vintage axles with a 0.5 mm shim to take care of the gap if required). The hinge pin size was causing some issues due to the positioning/layer height where the holes were becoming oversized at the hinge pins due to printing at the "standard" 0.2 mm resolution. I have tweaked the hole size slightly smaller which should help with this, but it will likely need reaming with a 3 mm drill bit now. I also adjusted the hinge pin spacing slightly. UPDATE 01/30/22: Design confirmed via printing - I have moved this to no longer a work in progress.
