Kyosho Ultima Extended Front Arm (+6 mm and +8mm versions)
thingiverse
Front A-Arm for the Kyosho Ultima that is 8 mm longer than the stock version. This design is loosely based on a combination of the highly sought after Andy's arm and the stock kit arm. Design inspiration was taken from Michael Vollmer's work on Neo Vintage RC (https://www.neo-vintagerc.com/) and his amazing work on a variety of designs. Since I do not have an Andy's arm to compare to, this is based on what I have been able to find in terms of information. The first version of the arm is approximately 6 mm longer than the standard kit version and takes styling cues from the original (essentially a stretched version of the original with some minor updates). The shock positions have been shifted outwards, but the two inner positions match the two outer positions of the stock arm. You can use the stock tie rods - as there is probably enough length, but you could also switch to 40-44 mm long tie rods if you would like a bit more overlap in the ball joints. This should require normal post finishing. Ream the hinge pivot holes with a 3 mm drill bit and tap the shock mounting holes with a M3 tap. There is a feature for the front sway bar that is designed to match up with M2.6 hardware, but could be pretty easily modified to use M3 hardware if there is a strong desire to do that. UPDATE 12/26/21: I added a V2 version that is slightly longer than the original design I uploaded. The original was based on the information that I had at the time based on message boards and Shapeways comments (lots of information if anyone specifically wants it). The V2 version is 8 mm wider which is what was verified on RC10Talk. I updated the geometry to add an additional 4th hole so there will be no mistaking the 8 mm vs 6 mm wider version. UPDATE 12/31/21: I changed the naming convention on the files as a result of some additional findings when modeling up some Pro XL arms. The original Ultima series bulkheads are approximately 0.8 mm deeper in the arm mount area. I have no idea why this was changed by Kyosho on the rerelease kit - may have just been missed. While this may not seem like much, it will cause a hard interference with the parts that I uploaded originally. This likely could be resolved with some filing of the arm, but I'd like to be able to print something that would not require that much material removal (~ 2 layers for 0.4 mm nozzle). I have re-uploaded the original files with naming denoting 6 mm and 8 mm lengths, and those files that will only work on re-release vehicles or all Ultima series vehicles. If the "all" option is chosen, washers/shims will be needed to take up the gap if used on a rerelease vehicle (1 or 2 washers). I will also be migrating to using STEP for my general CAD format rather than IGS moving forward.
