# Custom Kyosho Datsun Stepside / Minitz 06 Baja Beetle! The body my original Kyosho Datsun Stepside came with had completely flaked apart at this point, so I wanted something new. While you can get a reproduction of the original body, I'm personally not a huge fan of it's design to begin with. Instead, I decided to take a body TBG sells and created custom mounts to get it to work! # What's needed: - The body used is a Team Blue Groove Street Beetle Bug Body for a Traxxas 1/16 mini slash rally, and can be found directly on their website here: https://teambluegroove.com/products/street-beetle-bug-body-traxxas-1-16th-16-th-mini-slash-rally-revo-summit?_pos=13&_sid=30d8204dc&_ss=r - Its wheelbase is 210mm, which matches that of a minitz 06, and when the fenders and rear engine bay are substantially cut to the extent I have it fits relatively well. Alternatively, check their eBay page, which is where I got mine, (though currently at the time of making this their eBay is closed for restocking.) - The specific stickers I used were also just some I found from a seller on eBay, their quality isn't the greatest but they look great. - Additionally, I used two screws usually meant for mounting hard drives or DVD drives in a PC case. Really any screw should work if it matches the hole size, just make sure it's head is large or use a washer so the body can't be ripped off it's mounting points. # Printing: - I printed mine in PETG, but I don't doubt you could just use PLA for these, as there aren't any serious stress points that I'd be worried about breaking if printed in that material. It's worth trying! - Lay the Rear Mount sideways in your slicer, and use supports. should print much faster and be more rigid when printed that way. - I gave two options for the Front Mount, one without an additional mounting point for a lightbar. (Haven't designed a lightbar for this yet, but I left the option open for when I do!) #Installation: - Front mount uses the same hinge clips the original front bumper uses, (see photos,) so it should just pop on and off easily. cut the body similar to how I did and leave a lip in the front. pop two holes that match the mount, and you should just be able to screw the body on from the top. - Rear mount needs two holes drilled through the roof of the body, and hold the body on with standard body pins. It mounts to the chassis the same way as the original, with pins that just slot into matching holes. Thanks for checking this out, if anyone else attempts to do the same as me leave some pictures in the "makes" section! Happy printing!
