Kylo Ren Lightsaber
thingiverse
I designed this lightsaber to closely replicate the one from prop photographs and the Disney version. My son will be using it as a bedside light, which is why you see a cable attached in the picture. For optimal results, use supports. The wiring consists of 2mm red wire and approximately .75mm blue x 2. A 25mm x 19mm, one-meter long polycarbonate tube serves as the blade. I used 3/4 of two turkey basters to create the crossguards, aiming for a shape reminiscent of movie sabers. To achieve the effect seen in the close-up of the blade, I coated the blades with clear silicone and ran my hand (wearing a glove) along the blade while opening and closing it. The main blade was filled with baking paper, and the crossguards were sprayed with white paint before being hung to dry. Normal 60 leds per meter are used in this setup; however, if you plan to use it like most people would, I recommend using 144 neopixel leds per meter for a more authentic experience. A simple wall mount is included in the files, nearly hidden behind the lightsaber. Simply screw them into the wall, pass cable ties through the slots, and tighten around the saber.
