Kwawu 2 Socket Version - Sai Jai Thai Improved Latch

thingiverse

This is a revised latch design tailored specifically for the Kwawu 2 Socket version, developed in collaboration with skilled Thai Veterans from Sai Jai Thai. The Latchslider has been enlarged for easier pushing and pulling, while its slot on the latch base has also been expanded to be stronger and more accommodating. Additionally, a longer Latchteeth has been integrated, allowing for increased tolerance when stringing and tension adjustments. Notably, the position of the latch has been moved further away from the cuff, enhancing overall performance. There are two approaches to utilizing this modified design: First, place the included .stl files in the Kwawu 2 Socket edition folder, remove the "_NEW" suffix after deleting or moving the original o_LatchSlider, o_Latch, o_LatchTeeth, and o_LatchPin from the folder. Then render the parts in Openscad as usual. Alternatively, print these components separately from the main Kwawu folder and attach them (using glue, screws, or bolts) to a latchless Kwawu. This method enables larger latches on smaller Kwawus and allows for flexible positioning of the latch on arm parts. Two holes are provided on the latch base part; however, care must be taken to select suitable flathead screws that won't interfere with the latch's operation or pierce through the socket. To achieve optimal results, consider thermoforming the latch base part by submerging it in boiling water for a few seconds and then carefully shaping it around the arm part. Allow it to dry before attachment. You may need to print slightly smaller latch parts to accommodate the curve of the latch base. Thanks go to J Buchanan for the exceptional Kwawu design, as well as the Vets of Sai Jai Thai who contributed significantly to its improvement.
