I purchased a AKG-74 on eBay. To my surprise, the magazine's feed lips were damaged upon arrival. I decided to see if I could design a replacement pair. I printed this design on a SparkMaker printer using tough resin. Since the specific type of resin used is known for its durability, I thought it would withstand the pressure applied when in use. The v2 prototype worked well once installed into the magazine. However, I didn't allow enough time for the resin to cure before putting it under load and the lips bent slightly. Other than experiencing a mis-feed every other magazine or so, the lips functioned fine otherwise. Unfortunately, I left the magazine in a cold place overnight, and the stress and cold caused the lips to crack in two places, rendering it unusable. However, I believe the cold weather was the primary reason for the resin's cracking, not the design itself. I have also uploaded a v3 version with some alterations and reinforcements made to improve its functionality. I haven't printed this version yet, but I am fairly confident that it will work as well as the previous ones. I'm also unsure if it's possible to print with ABS or any other type of plastic. Nylon may work well, but I have yet to test it.
