In 2019 an archaeological dig uncovered remnants of ancient dwellings in the Renstrommen plot, Norrkoping, Sweden. The site has since been transformed into a thriving neighborhood with modern construction. Excavators unearthed fragments of structures, courtyards, and cellars from homes erected between the 1600s and 1700s. The total area spanned an impressive 1100 square meters. Archaeologists pinpointed the oldest phase to foundations laid in the 1620s, which were clearly visible on the town's earliest maps. Several unidentifiable structures were discovered that shed new light on the region's history. A treasure trove of artifacts was unearthed, featuring everyday pottery, Chinese ceramics, glassware, clay pipes, animal remains, and a one-of-a-kind wooden pipe.
