Major Motoko Kusanagi, or simply "Major", is the main protagonist of the manga and anime Ghost in the Shell created by Masamune Shirow. She is a synthetic-cybernetic augmented "full-body prosthetic" employed as a field commander of Public Security Section 9, a fictional law enforcement division of Japan's National Public Safety Commission. Being strong, physically powerful and highly intelligent, she is well known for her skills in deduction, hacking and military tactics.
