The kuna is one of the most popular ninja tools, paired with the shuriken. This black blade has a handle wrapped in bandages and a small ring at the end. Designed for stabbing and thrusting, it still packs some punch when thrown, although it's not its strong suit, measuring about as long as one hand. Many ninjas attack by attaching an explosive tag to the tip of their kuna. The blade is usually tossed so that it lodges in something near the target, then the explosion from the attached tag destroys the target. This tactic is known as an explosive kuna. Kunas can also be stored on spring-loaded wires up a user's sleeve, as shown in Naruto Uzumaki's fight with Sai when they first met. They can be used for close combat like any ordinary knife. When empowered with chakra flow, kunas thrown at targets can cut through solid wood and even solid stone targets.
