Kumiko Shoji style Nightstand Lamp
thingiverse
I was inspired by TanyaAkinora's original design for a lamp in the style of Kumiko Shoji. For more information about this Japanese architecture style, please read her project description. The changes I made to the design are as follows: I transformed the base and uprights from a Modula design into a unified-body design, which significantly improved the strength and rigidity of the Lamp. Next, I increased the size of the Lamp by expanding its dimensions from 100x100x100 to 195x195x195mm. Eleven new panel pattern designs were added, including the original Panel pattern designed by TanyaAkinora, resized to work with my new design. The interchangeable Panels feature allows for easy installation and removal, making it simple to change panels to a new pattern in the future. I replaced the traditional candle with a safer USB LED light that features dimmer control. This LED light can be powered from any standard USB charger plug, battery pack, or device with a USB port. Links and details for all materials used on this project are listed in the Materials Used section at the bottom. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me, and I'll do my best to answer them. I really hope you enjoy this project as much as I did, and thank TanyaAkinora for her original design. Custom Section: Materials Used: USB LED Light from Amazon A4 Vellum Paper Translucent Heavyweight 150gsm Translucent from Amazon I chose Vellum Paper instead of traditional rice paper, as the translucent paper gives a better light effect. Filament: Polymaker PolyWood I decided to use Polymakers Polywood PLA to avoid possible nozzle clogs. Overall, I'm very happy with the wood effect; however, this filament had some stringing issues, and I'm sure that given time, I could have tweaked printer settings to improve it.
