Torrential rains and winds descending from the mountain slopes have created an interesting formation known as "Peribacası" through erosion of the limestone structure. The torrential waters find their way down steep slopes, causing rocks to crack and break apart. As a result, the lower layers of softer materials are worn away, causing the slope to recede, while the conical bodies above remain intact due to the hat-shaped crown that protects them from erosion. This phenomenon reveals that rainfall's surface flow is more significant than wind in the formation of these formations. The key factor contributing to this intense and powerful runoff is the lack of vegetation and the porous nature of the limestone. Kula, with its geological structure originating from volcanic activity, offers a unique setting where rainfall and erosion create fascinating natural formations.
