The traditional drinking cup, known as a kuksa or guksi in English, originates from northern Finland and Scandinavia. Crafted by hand from birch burl, the Sami people created these cups with precision and care. Each one was unique, bearing its owner's personal touch. A well-crafted kuksa is said to last a lifetime, making it a treasured possession. As an artist, I sought to capture the essence of a traditional wooden kuksa in my design, while ensuring it remains easy to print. Drawing inspiration from my own collection of kuksas, I aimed to create a piece that honors its organic shape and cultural significance.
