The kukrī is a sharp-edged Nepalese blade with an inwardly curved shape, comparable to a machete, used effectively as both a tool and a deadly weapon in Nepal and several neighboring countries of South Asia. Traditionally, it was the primary utility knife of the Nepalese people, and in many cases still holds this distinction today. It is a distinctive symbol of the Nepalese Army, the elite Royal Gurkha Rifles, Assam Rifles, and the battle-hardened Assam Regiment of the Indian Army.
