KTM 690 Side Stand Sensor Bypass

This design securely holds the side stand sensor so the magnet is positioned correctly and the sensor always thinks the kickstand is in the "up" position. DANGER This bypass will allow the bike to stay running in gear with the side stand down. This can be dangerous and result in crash. Always put the side stand up before putting the bike in gear. DANGER A magnet is required. You can carefully cut the existing magnet out of the plastic arm that is attached to the side stand. Or, you can buy a magnet like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/5862K103/ The magnet must be installed in the holder with the correct polarity (north/south), or the sensor will not read it. The easiest way to determine what side of the magnet should be facing the sensor is to test each face. 1) Mark one side of the magnet with a permanent marker. 2) Place the magnet in the holder with the marked side of the magnet facing the sensor 3) Install the sensor in the holder, ensuring wire is opposite the magnet -- see images 4) Start the bike, pull in the clutch, and put it in gear. 5) If the bike stays running, the magnet is installed correctly. If it dies, turn the magnet around and perform this test again. Once you know how the magnet should be installed, glue it in place within the holder with epoxy or super glue. Use just enough glue to hold it in place within the holder, don't overfill the hole. Allow the glue to set up as long a necessary before installing the sensor in the holder. Install the sensor ensuring wire is opposite the magnet and use the original screws to hold it in place. Find a good place to zip tie the holder, such as under the seat -- see images.
