He took off and fought impossible odds to allow his squadron to escape and redeploy during the invasion of Feburary 24, 2022. He had already been retired once from the Air Force, but felt he had to return in light of the danger of his country. His squadron survived, and so will his memory forever. The Chobanu Class Monowing honors his sacrifice
