My Fahgettaboudit Mini U-lock suffered quite a bit under UV-light exposure over the years, the plastic cover of the u-bar and the main body became super sticky and smeary. After removing the plastic parts, disassembling and servicing the lock, I designed a new over for the cylindrical part which consists out of two overlapping halves and are held together by the keyhole cover. I printed them in PETG which should be soft enough to not damage the paint on your bike, TPU might work even better though. For the u-bar I used ca. 0,5 m long piece of garden hose with an inner diameter of 19 mm. Some silicon oil and warming up the relatively rigid hose with a hairdryer made it fairly easy to put it over the bar (clamping the bar into a vice definitely helps). Just leave the hose a millimeter or two longer than the original cover to get rid or at least reduce the rattling while the lock is closed.-bikenerd
