The intricate wooden relief bears all the hallmarks of depicting Krishna, the revered Hindu deity revered for his embodiment of love, tenderness and compassion. Though the sculpture diverges from the typical representation of the god, adorned with a flute and elaborate ornaments, the ornate oriental design on one side lends credence to this assumption, as the woman's presence is thought to symbolize the spirit of the deity.
