Originating in Indonesia, this asymmetrical dagger has also been found in Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and Singapore. Several types of Kris exist, each with its own distinct characteristics. The curvy blade represents the sacred snake Naga, while the handle is crafted in the traditional style of "Kraton," typical of East Java, Sumatra and Yokohama. The scabbard throat takes on a shape resembling a pirigue, said to symbolize the "moon boat" where Javanese hero Panji supposedly resides.
