Kretecek, a lunar surface digger designed to gather loose regolith sediment, relies on a straightforward design that allows for the collection of substantial amounts of material. By keeping the inner drum stationary relative to the outer collecting part, each rotation of the outer rim effectively gathers loose material and deposits it into the inner drum. Once the inner drum reaches its capacity of 33 liters, Kretecek's process is reversed, allowing the drum to be rotated and emptied.
