Kreator, a German thrash metal band from Essen, Germany, was formed in 1982 by Mille Petrozza and Jürgen Reil. The current lineup features Petrozza on vocals and rhythm guitar, Reil behind the drums, Sami Yli-Sirniö on lead guitar, and Frédéric Leclercq on bass. Over its 38-year history, Kreator has undergone numerous lineup changes, with Petrozza and Reil remaining as the band's only original members. Kreator's music style is characterized by a complex sound, similar to that of Destruction, Sodom, and Tankard. Since their album "Violent Revolution" in 2001, they have incorporated more melodic elements into their sound. Alongside Destruction, Sodom, and Tankard, Kreator is often referred to as one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal. They are credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by incorporating key elements of those genres into their music.
