Developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, God of War is a third-person action-adventure game that stormed the PlayStation 4 console on April 20, 2018. As the eighth installment in the legendary series, it's also the eighth chapter chronologically, following closely after the events of God of War III in 2010. Unlike its predecessors, which drew inspiration from Greek mythology, this game takes creative liberties with Norse mythology. At the forefront of the story are Kratos, the former Greek God of War, and his young son Atreus. Following the passing of Kratos' second wife and Atreus' mother, they embark on a journey to fulfill her final wish: scattering her ashes at the highest peak in the nine realms. With his troubled past kept hidden from Atreus, who remains oblivious to his true divine heritage, their adventure takes them through treacherous landscapes teeming with monsters and gods of the Norse world.
