Kratky or DWC Hydroponic Grow Unit
thingiverse
I wanted to do some hydroponic growing but didn't want to mess around with pipes, pumps and the like so I designed this alternative with a closed bottom. Fortunately, there's a type of hydroponics that's very simple and is just like growing in soil on a window box. This is the [Kratky method](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws9hDTwYXno&t=83s). Lots of advice on using the Kratky method on YouTube and elsewhere. It's just as easy as filling up the base with water + nutrients, put your seedlings in net cups and screw then in, cover the top then wait. If you have a small air pump from an aquarium or something you could also adapt this for the deep water culture (DWP) - see [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCxNhnAmqWM). Make sure to print with a high minimum shell thickness to prevent leakage of water. Alternatively you could paint the unit after printing. I used resin. You can also place the unit inside a tub or something just in case and to catch and leaks. I used these pots to grow lettuce and basil but they could be used for so much more. You'll also need some of the screw in pots available in the parent project. Make sure also to cover the top or print a lid (included .stl with a small hole).
