KrakenSDR + Pi4 Assembly Frame

KrakenSDR + Pi4 Assembly Frame

thingiverse

This is an assembly frame to physically combine a KrakenSDR (see https://www.krakenrf.com) and a Raspberry Pi 4B. ==================================================================== Update 18 October 2022: - The Hama 210537 power supply is now mountend directly on the frame. Glue it to the frame by means of a double-sided sticker tape reinforced by a cable tie. - I added a battery power supply holder for this 26650 battery pack: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004669688186.html Update 26 September 2022: Revised frame design: - You now have the options to (a) print the base for mounting the assembly to a pole via cable ties or (b) via broom stick clips or (c) to print a flat base e.g. for tabletop or in-car use. The frame supports angled USB cable plugs for the KrakenSDR's USB-C power connector. - Mounting plate for a Hama 210537 (may be available under different brand names) USB 33 watt power supply. Adhere the power supply to the mounting plate with double-sided sticker tape. - Bonus: 3D-printable wrench for tightening SMA and FME coaxial connectors ==================================================================== The KrakenSDR has physical contact with the frame only at its rubber feet and at the top corners, leaving ample space between the frame and the KrakenSDR for cooling air. You can contribute to the cooling by printing the frame in a light color (e.g. white) and turn the base of the frame towards the sun. I bought the black Pi 4B enclosure here: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/4000288119233.html? The frame cover includes two 4 mm holes for mounting this enclosure through its "+" cutouts with two M4 x 8 mm screws and nuts. But the frame cover also includes 3 mm screw holes to mount the Pi without enclosure on top of hexagonal posts. My broom stick clips support a maximum pole diameter of 25 mm. For option (a): Do not tighten the ties too much; insert a screw into the pole to vertically secure the ties. Your 3D printer's bed must be at least 200 mm wide. I printed the frame in PLA with three peripheral, two top and two bottom layers, 0.3 mm layer height, 0.5 mm extrusion width and 15% infill. I assembled it unsing four 2.9 x 9.5 mm self-tapping screws (DIN 7981-C-H). The screws for the broom stick clips are M3 x 8 mm plus M3 nuts. As always I include the OpenSCAD source file for you to adapt or improve. See my other designs at https://www.thingiverse.com/thinger13/designs
