Koya Racing Custom Wheel Centre
thingiverse
The original centre caps that came with my Koya Racing SF05 wheels didn't have enough clearance for the driveshafts on the front of my 4WD vehicle. I designed these ones, which were inspired by the wheels on the Lotus Evija. They are a perfect fit for the Koya Racing SF05 wheels and clip into place with a very solid click. The wheels I designed them for are 18 x 8 inches and on these, the pointed end of the centre cap lines up exactly with the outermost face of the wheel. I don't know what other wheels these may fit but I'd guess that all of Koya Racing's wheels use the same centre cap dimensions. This design incorporates an indentation to accept the steel ring/spring from the original centre caps. However, if you achieve a strong enough print then the plastic clips themselves will hold the centre cap in place without the spring (in case you don't have any). By all means print this model in PLA first in order to test the fitment but it won't hold its shape for very long on the car due to heat. For my final print I used Form Futura Apollo X filament, which is ideal. If you want something cheaper, PETG or ABS should be up to the task. You will definitely need to use supports when printing these but I used only a 2% support density, which made it super easy to remove and revealed perfectly formed clips underneath. I also used an aggressive overhang angle of 75 degrees to prevent the slicer from building a support for the roof of the dome (it's just not necessary). I used a 30% infill density. I also used a raft with just a 2mm extra margin to make sure that the first layers remain stable. With all of my settings, the build used 19 grams of material and took 2.5 hours.
