Kovács Margit's oeuvre is remarkably multidisciplinary, technically impressive, and thematically diverse. Her decorative approach, human-scale themes, mythological, and biblical narratives create a lovable, familiar world. She has been exhibiting since the mid-thirties in ecclesiastical art exhibitions, thanks to the temple construction wave, her ceramics have found their way into several churches across the country. Following initial sacred works characteristic of Gothic, Italian Trecento or Byzantine influences, Kovács Margit drew biblical figures from the simpler folk world. Kovács Margit's most processed motifs come from the peasant world, and she has brought over the Bárányos ceramic work, which combines various folk visual elements in a ringed piece. However, her life's work is characterized by the application of folkloristic ornamentation as a visual decorative element.
