Kossel Spool Top Mount for HDD Bearing

This is a top mounting filament spool support designed specifically for Kossel Delta printers that use 2020 (20mm) extrusions and have 240mm side lengths, making it compatible with the Ancubic Kossel Linear and similar models. It's built around a Hard Drive Bearing/Motor taken from an old 3.5" Seagate Barracuda 80GB drive. The support prints as three identical parts that attach to the side rails using two M4x10 screws and M4 nuts, featuring a 3mm hole for mounting the bearing. The design includes a connector model used to connect the arms together with M4 screws, ensuring a very low profile assembly where the spool is almost touching the top rails. This exact fit design comes with tight tolerances, making it unlikely to fit straight off the printer and requiring some filing and trimming. Measuring after printing revealed that the parts were slightly oversized, so I filed the front and rear faces of all the arms until they just fitted. Additionally, I cut the "teeth" off one part, allowing it to be slid in from above without removing the side rail. This process would have been possible by temporarily removing the side rail. The Sketchup model is included for ease of editing and features a 3D model of the Seagate hard drive bearing for comparison. To mount the filament spool to the bearing, I created two adapters available on Thingiverse: one for a 1TB Seagate HDD (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2598023) and another untested variant for the Linear Plus (spool_arm_linear_plus_01.stl). Note that the photos don't show the final routing of the filament, with plans to move the extruder and add filament guides in a future update. If you have a different HDD bearing, you may need an adaptor, but one is already available on Thingiverse made by cwalker74 for a 1TB Seagate HDD.
