Kossel Mini Optical EndStop

Kossel Mini Optical EndStop

thingiverse

This is an alternate endstop for an HE3D Delta 180 (Kossel Mini) bracket that lets you mount an optical sensor (switch) on a 2020 extruded aluminum frame. This design still allows adjusting the endstop using the adjustment screw. The hole spacing on the Optical Switch is 19mm from center and 3mm from the edge (bolt side). Share and modify this thing as needed. This thing was made with Tinkercad. Edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/fDnlTzzGrPo Print Settings: Printer: HE3D Delta 180 Duel Head Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .1 Infill: 35% Notes: Use supports or the mounting lugs of the optical sensor will droop into a blob. If you get that, don't worry - just trim them flat and use a washer to space it. Post-Printing: Installation Mount the sensor to the endstop brackets using small screws. There are lugs on the bracket to space the sensor away far enough to clear any solder and chips on the back of the sensor. I do not use bolts due to space limitations, so make sure the screw does not protrude too far and trim off any excess. The verticals for the posts that mount on the carriage will need to be trimmed once mounted. I print them wide so they will print flat and have some structure. You can then trim the sides to fit the sensor you use properly. When mounting the vertical post on the carriage, I used servo mounting screws - they are long and have a decent bite. You can use what you prefer. The fit is snug, which allows you to only lightly tighten the 2020 screw. This makes adjusting the end stops mechanically much easier. How I Designed This I print small parts and need close tolerances. I was having issues with my mechanical end stops not being consistent. I decided to use Arduino-compatible Optical endstops. I created these to allow me to mount them and still use the adjuster screw. I used a strip of 1/4" flat brass strip screwed into the carriage instead of making a whole new carriage. This way I could adjust it as I prototyped. I also have a plan to make a 3D-printed one. If you want to make the brass one, you can get the brass strip at a hobby shop.
