You can recreate a sturdier 3mm z-probe similar to the original Allen wrench version by purchasing a 1/8 inch brass rod from Lowes. To do this, increase the size of the retractable and position the probe on the effector's outer edge. The new setup allows for adjustable probe length. Follow the Kossel Mini probe assembly instructions but be cautious when installing the micro-switch to avoid binding with the probe in the retractable body.
