Kossel Delta Spool Holder with Hard Drive Bearing
thingiverse
I had seen various spool holders and wanted to integrate a lot of what I observed into what I envisioned. I sought something that would attach to a 2020 rail system, could be mounted in multiple configurations, and utilized a bearing for smooth action. This holder combines a 3.5 hard drive bearing with the parts you print and five total screws and two t-nuts. On my application, I used M4 x 8mm screws and M4 t-nuts to secure the mount to the rail. I reused the screws from disassembling the hard drive and the bearing to assemble the rest. Assembly should proceed in this order: one, attach M4 screws and nuts to printed mount; leave nuts loose. Two, mount hard drive bearing to printed mount. Three, attach mount to 2020 rail and tighten it down to secure it. Four, attach screw to exposed side of bearing and secure with screws. Rotate the bearing to see the exposed screw holes on the side of the mount. Five, attach spool and secure with printed nut. The advantage of this design is that it is useful for many types of spools/filament and it can be mounted in any orientation on the 2020 rail. Also, please rotate the mount 180 degrees so that it will be printed with the circles indentations facing up.
