Since 1945, Korea has been divided into two sovereign states - North Korea under Soviet occupation and South Korea under US control, following their agreement on Japanese forces' surrender in World War II. The Korean Peninsula was unified under Goryeo dynasty before its annexation by Japan in 1910, ruling until the end of World War II in August 1945. This division led to a stalemate during the Korean War (1950-3) without a formal peace treaty, resulting in high tensions till today. As an educational tool or display model, there's a digital representation of the peninsula with color-separated regions for North and South Korea, approximately consisting 6224 polygons made with 3 and 4 point polygons, includes separate parts for each region, an mtl file for colorization, but no textures are included.
