The bust depicts a woman wearing a traditional peplos, her figure fragmented yet reassembled with care around the fractures. The reconstructed statue shows her holding her dress hem with her right hand, while offering a gift to the divine with her left hand. This work's iconography and style fit within the kore typology. Korai were often used as offerings or grave markers during ancient Greece's Archaic period, featuring young women with long, plaited hair and finely painted clothing. A notable example can be found in Rome's Palazzo Massimo, unearthed in an area that once housed the Horti Sallustiani. The sculpture was reused for decorative purposes in these gardens.
