The relationship between generative design and natural laws is crucial in understanding art, energy, and music. Everything we see is shaped by the continuous movement of energy in varying states of entropy. Designing with aesthetic appeal means following nature's rules, especially when using a generative strategy. Examples of such behavior can be seen in water flowing, sparks in motion, ant paths, trees, and coral growth. The coral's unique shape is determined by factors like water temperature, flow, composition, and density. To emulate these properties in design, Grasshopper algorithms were used to simulate flocking behavior, auto-arranging, and calcium deposition. These algorithms provide a purely generative design with high flexibility and ease of use. The resulting lamp shade can be used as a pendant or table lamp and offers an impressive shading effect due to the bulb position. It comes in three different shapes, with some requiring support during printing. A self-made algorithm provides both supported and non-supported versions, reducing the risk of mistakes. The voxel system and auto-arrange process minimize material usage, making this design a perfect example of nature's influence on generative design.
